“If given the honor of serving as the Student Government Association President, I plan on continuing to build upon the climate of excellence and ambition that we have established in the past year. It is incredibly important to recognize positive progress, and I believe that the current TUSGA administration has done a tremendous job of engaging our student body and enacting tangible changes in response to this dialogue. I have now served on SGA for 3 years, including two terms as the Food Liaison and one term as the Student Affairs Committee Chair. In this time, I have discovered that there are inevitably times when the interests of the University do not line up with the wishes of the Student Body. As President of TUSGA, I would serve to fervently advocate for my fellow students to the administration while continuing to innovate novel ways to improve the academic and social lives of each and every student.
One of my primary pursuits as President would be to extend SGA’s reach to impact the entire diverse student body. It is easy to resort to practices where the minority opinion is not only not considered, but also not heard. I find it absolutely necessary that SGA ensures that we are accurately carrying out our mission of serving the best interests of our students. In order to accomplish this, I plan on streamlining feedback methods to the issues that are being discussed by identifying these issues and utilizing space on Inside Transy to post forums where quick and easy comments can be posted from any location. I plan on utilizing the relationships I have formed with the administration to continually strengthen the student voice in order to create the most accommodating student atmosphere this campus has ever seen.”
